            Bug ID: 453882
Summary: Dolphin does not remove temporary files in /tmp when
                    thumbnailing image files from "smb:"
           Product: dolphin
           Version: 22.04.0
          Platform: Other
                OS: Linux
            Status: REPORTED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: NOR
         Component: view-engine: general
          Assignee: dolphin-bugs-null at kde.org
          Reporter: temp at pauldevaney.co.uk
                CC: kfm-devel at kde.org
  Target Milestone: ---

SUMMARY
***
Dolphin creates temporary files in /tmp when thumbnailing image files from
"smb:" mounts (r/w or r/o).
Over time, these files fill /tmp
eg:
-rw------- 1 ubuntu ubuntu 0 May 16 11:38 dolphin.ExHKzo
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ubuntu ubuntu 8577350 May 16 11:38 dolphin.ExHKzo.part
-rw------- 1 ubuntu ubuntu 0 May 16 11:38 dolphin.IeQYAj
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ubuntu ubuntu 14409948 May 16 11:38 dolphin.IeQYAj.part

***

STEPS TO REPRODUCE
1. Ensure 'preview' is set to enabled for remote files in dolphin
2. Open smb mount - eg smb://192.168.1.11/photos2022_RW/3_Mar/
3. Observe as thumbnails are generated increasing number of files in /tmp/ -
these are never removed

OBSERVED RESULT
-rw------- 1 ubuntu ubuntu 0 May 16 11:38 dolphin.ExHKzo
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ubuntu ubuntu 8577350 May 16 11:38 dolphin.ExHKzo.part
-rw------- 1 ubuntu ubuntu 0 May 16 11:38 dolphin.IeQYAj
-rw-rw-r-- 1 ubuntu ubuntu 14409948 May 16 11:38 dolphin.IeQYAj.part

EXPECTED RESULT
No objection to files being created in order to thumb - but should be removed
post thumbnail

SOFTWARE/OS VERSIONS
Linux/KDE Plasma:
KDE Plasma Version: 5.24.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 5.92.0
Qt Version: 5.15.3

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Dolphin version 4:21.12.3-0ubuntu1
Note: Does not appear to happen when mounting the same location via sshfs -
only via smb
Note2: Does appear some of the files are created and subsequently removed - but
not all
