The overall time and the resulting fragmentation doesn't change much (or 
almost at all) if you do it all in sequence or if you do it in parallel. 
But this is just my feeling, I have no hard data to prove it.

And if you want to be a power user and implement that feature, you have my 
full support.

The only thing I oppose is sacrificing the common use-case and general 
usability.
