True, but /methinks that the OP would install KDevelop from his distribution if it were one that provides up-to-date packages. IOW, there's a good chance that his Qt5 version is not newer than the one in the AppImage.<br>
The simpler reason why plugins from the system aren't used could be that the embedded Qt simply isn't configured to look in the system plugin paths. That can probably be fixed by setting QT_PLUGIN_PATH, unless the AppImage wrapper unsets that variable?<br>
