Not exactly what you want, but perhaps good enough: Create a filter that <br>
marks new mail as read. Look in the inbox at your designated times. Move <br>
any mail you've read to another folder (e.g., ‘read’ or ‘archive’).<br>

If your inbox is too easy to open accidentally, move the new mail to some <br>
specific folder than isn't.<br>
<br>
Based on what mail resource you use (IMAP,…), there might be better <br>
options.<br>
For IMAP, you can configure KMail to not check automatically (on a <br>
folder-per-folder basis), but only when you do it manually.<br>
