I had  the same issue and I only use POP3. After disabling Nepomuk it 
went to normal. Just tried to reply to mailing list and got list of 
things that are not supposed to work with it disabled.  I reenabledit 
and my CPU usage appears normal. May come back if I log out.  Now 
filtering filtered 25 messages and appears to have gotten stuck. Will 
have to expeirment so more. 

Just came back to 1005 for approx. 20 seconds. Back to normal now.
