[kdepim-users] kmail can't connect after moving .kde to another machine

I use kmail on a gentoo system running kde 3.5.9, kmail 1.9.9.  I routinely 
copy the entire .kde directory between a laptop and desktop, without any 
problems.  So I recently was forced to use centos 5 (upgraded to kde 3.5.9) 
on a work machine (yuck), and I tried to copy the .kde dir to this machine.  
kmail on this new machine shows all folders, but none of the accounts will 
connect to their servers.  Other kde programs which connect to the network 
are fine.  I have tried deleting the kmailrc file, leaving the folders alone, 
and redoing the accounts, but the result is the same.  Is there a way to see 
more debug info from kmail to know why it can't connect to the servers?
