Doing the same thing from KMail yields an error modal with the message:

"Could not find plugin pim/kcms/kaddressbook/kcm_ldap"

The directory of kcm_ldap.so I found is
"/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/qt5/plugins/pim5/kcms/kaddressbook/kcm_ldap.so"

Could the "pim" vs "pim5" directory name be the issue?
