Also just noted that a message under a forlder that has a subfolder cannot be
deleted. Probably for the same reason.

Seems like the creator of kmail has not considered that you can have a main
folder with messages and then create a subfolder underneath this for certain
other messages. But still keep most of the messages in the base folder. A very
common way of organizing your messages for some people...
