I'm not exactly sure what you're asking.. but maybe we already have this
feature.

look in the bottom left area for the calendar manager.
right-mouse context menu on the calendar you want manage.
select Folder Properties.
click "Block reminders locally"

repeat for all calendars you want to block.

terrible UI, I agree.  let me know if this does what you want
