Of course it's still valid, and has been since version 4 was first released. 
I'm using Plasma 5.10.2 and Frameworks 5.35.0, which I believe are the latest,
and the problem is still present.  Whatever the problem is, it keeps getting
propagated up the versions and never fixed.
