If by "still valid for kmail2" you mean that this feature is still missing from
kmail2 and is still wanted, then: yes.

Especially now that Mozilla has announced they will be dialing back on
development of Thunderbird, which in my opinion creates an even greater need of
an alternative, properly maintained email client (such as kmail) which can
interchange email taggings in a way that those taggings can be viewed and
modified with other clients (i.e. IMAP tags).
