I optimized the tables using mysql (apparently I don't have the "new akonadi
server" ... ackonadictl does not have a "vacuum" command, only start, stop,
restart, and status, I'm running KDE 4.7.3).

But this was to no avail!

The ~/.local/share/akonadi/ directory still contains as much data as the
~/.local/share/.local-mail.directory (roughly 2GB), which means that all my
messages are stored twice.
