thank you thomas, but the problem persists. it is a real issue, i first used
the option in the send button, but even using the option you suggested me the
issue occurs the same: kmail uses tiscali.it as mailtransport, but if i go to
outoging mail i note that the sender is "name at alice.it" and not
"name at tiscali.it", this is a strange behaviour and problably the cause of the
issue. 

this is the error i receive:
smtp.tiscali.it: Socket operation timed out
