The problem is that long threads starting looking like this:

- Thread title
  - Re: Thread title
    - Re: Thread title
      - Re: Thread title
        - Re: Thread title
          - Re: Thread title
            - Re: Thread title
              - Re: Thread title
                - Re: Thread tit
                  - Re: Thread t
                    - Re: Thread
                      - Re: Thre
                        - Re: Th

Eventually, certain messages get pushed out of the view!

An alternate way to fix this problem is to have Mail.app-style flat lists
without any branching at all.
