Just checked my KDE settings for "Land/Region & Sprache" ("Land/Region &
Language").

Seems that kmail can only use placeholders for date that are defined in the
local KDE settings. Rechecking that I could solve the additional dot bug, but
still ddd gives me "Mo" instead of "Mon".

I wonder if ddd is simply meant do display the short name of the day (word, not
numbers) whereas dddd gives the full name of the day.
