Summary: All KMail settings lost when disk full, Kontact
crashes
Product: kontact
Version: unspecified
Platform: unspecified
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: crash
Priority: NOR
Component: mail
AssignedTo: kdepim-bugs at kde.org
ReportedBy: eljefedelito at gmail.com
Version: unknown (using 4.2.4 (KDE 4.2.4), Debian packages)
Compiler: cc
OS: Linux (i686) release 2.6.30-1-686
I cannot say if this would have happened with KMail stand-along or not, so I am
filing this with Kontact/Mail.
My /home/ partition filled up today during a download, and when Kontact went to
check for new email the drive was full and Kontact crashed.
When I cleaned up space and restarted Kontact:
1. All of my email accounts were gone from the Receiving column in the KMail
setup.
2. All of my rules were missing for filtering incoming email.
3. My list of emails in the Inbox windowpane (right side of KMail) looks
completely different, with the email info being on one line before (it used to
have 'thick' Subject/Date/Sender info, now it is skinny. Currently about 3
emails fit in the space that one used to occupy).
4. System tray settings are no longer valid, I had to reenable that.
5. Messages are no longer signed with my GPG key, I'll have to reset that up.
6. Re-setting up email accounts required all of the IMAP header info to be
downloaded again, rather than being found on the local system.
And that is all I have come across so far, since this has taken a good amount
of time to re-set up and I've not really looked into the rest of what is
missing.
A "full hard drive" needs to be expected from time to time, and it shouldn't
cause Kontact/Mail to lose all of its settings. It may be only KMail-related,
as my calendar info and address book still looks to be accurate.
Thanks for the great application, I hope that this can be fixed so that it
doesn't bite someone else in the future.
