I upgraded my kernel from 2.6.22-gentoo-r6 to -r8. That's when I noticed this problem. I haven't found any clue as to why it starts one time and crashes another.
System is:
2.6.22-gentoo-r8 i686
Dell E1505
1.6GHZ 2GB RAM
