I just had the exact same bug, I just lost all my emails. Disconnected IMAP (imap.free.fr). Kmail didn't crash but my wireless connection regularly goes on and off. When it went back on, all my emails were gone for ever ! Everything looks like this bug : http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104956
I though the bug had been fixed since version 1.8 ?
