You are right. (I did not realize this at first!).
I need to pass an updated PKG_CONFIG_PATH to kdenlive (maybe also mlt++?)
I will apply the patch locally, and get a new version of KBW out. Will be a
bit hard to test it thoroughly though, as DNS for the ffmpeg svn server is
not responding, but it should be OK.
AFAICT you do not need to do anything for Kdenlive other than applying Dan's
patch.
