I don't think it's something that we can trigger from another device, instead you need to know the time for the future notification in advance. I would like to use the desktop function "Ring my phone" whenever I need to find my iPhone after forgetting where I put it in my apartment, without the iPhone app running in the foreground on the iPhone. The reason I think it may be possible to run it in the background is that I also use an iPhone app called Aida Reminder 7.8. I got it through the<br>
App Store. It is a really good "reminder" program that plays various sounds to remind me of things, but it works even when it is not running in the foreground. It runs entirely in the background. I'm unsure whether it's open source, but there is an email address:<br>
