    Try locking screen as a new user? If it doesnt work, try the default

    <meta http-equiv="CONTENT-TYPE" content="text/html;

      charset=ISO-8859-1">

    /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc which the distro provided (after talking

    backup).
