There is a very good article on how to create a Debian Syslog server at http://www.aboutdebian.com/syslog.htm however some of the files it mentions are not contained in a SUSE Linux 10.1 environment. Can you please adopt the information here for SUSE Linux 10.1. Basically all I need is for a application to listen to port UDP/514 and continue to write the captured information to a file. I am only interested in creating the listening server as I have no problems with the client sending the traffic to UDP/514 and I have Linux display vehicle courtesy
You may be wondering why I dont just use Ethereal Network Analasyer - Its a great tool, however it has a bug that severely hampers its usefulness as a Syslog Server.
