Dragging and dropping text, how?

I'm not sure that am I suffering from an extreme case of stupidity, or 
something, but.... How do I drag and drop text in KDE? Suppose I select a 
block of text and I want to copy it elsewhere. And I would like to do that by 
simply dragging that text, and dropping it in it's destination. But I can't 
get that to work in KDE (3.5 in this case). When I select a block of text, 
and I then try to D&D it, it simply selects a new block of text.

Am I doing something wrong, is KDE in Kubuntu somehow screwed up, or is this 
simply not doable?
