Jpeg Problem

Ever since I updated QT in slackware-current I haven't been able to use 
jpegs as my desktop background. I've installed libjpeg but that hasn't 
sorted anything out. Is it because I haven't passed a particular 
parameter to QT when I ran ./configure?
