I'm all for this, I think it makes a lot of sense.<div><br></div><div>The reason this is on the ML is that there is a review request [1] which ended up in some people saying that there is no point showing a default away message if one is not set. Rather than arguing in the review thread, it was suggested to bring it to the mailing list.</div>
<div><br></div><div>If anyone does think differently to the proposal, now is a good time to say it, otherwise I'll merge it.</div><div><br></div><div>Dave</div><div><br></div><div>[1] <a href="https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/101066/">https://git.reviewboard.kde.org/r/101066/</a></div>

Hello,<br>
<br>
I attached a mockup of what I think should happen with the presence status<br>
icons of the Contact List to this mail.<br>
<br>
The advantage of this design is that the second line is never empty (if no<br>
status message is set a generic presence message is shown).<br>
<br>
What do you think of this suggestion? Is there anybody who has a better idea?<br></blockquote><div><br></div></div></div><div>I personally like it. I've already delegated the design to two other people who promised to come up with something (one of them was Pinheiro, but as we all know, he is super-ultra-busy, the other guy, Eugene, has not responded yet). We could really use some fresh design.</div>
<div><br></div><div>And btw. I'm aslo working on a narrower list, which will have simply the name and small status icon next to it (and possibly the avatar too) and then there is also planned a grid view of your contacts (I believe it is submitted as GSoC). The idea is to let user easily switch between these views.</div>
