<P><FONT SIZE=2>Try to "truss" the kfmclient command, it might give a hint where it is failing.</FONT>

<P><FONT SIZE=2>I had the same problem after compiling 3.2.3 but it went away after recompiling kdelibs/kdebase. Unfortunately I do not remember what changes I made, sorry :-(</FONT></P>
