the problem is that i actually don't have a system right now that isn't 
several years old (read: painfully slow) that can accommodate a multi-head 
capable video card ... when i get a new desktop system (don't know when that 
will be right now) i'll almost certainly get a multi-head video card...

oh, i don't mind doing this. i fixed a ton of them when i had xinerama to work 
with for 3.4...
