In both GIMP and OpenOffice.org/Star Office you can enter a printing
command, which is "lp" or "lpr" by default. You can either add a "poster
printer" with "poster <options> | lpr" as printing command, or, when you
have KDE 3.1, use "kprinter" as the printing command. In the latter case
the "kprinter" dialog will pop up when you click "OK" in the printing
dialog of the application and then you can configure your poster on the
"Poster" tab in the "Properties" dialog.

For Star Office an OpenOffice.org use the "spadmin" tool as root to
configure the printers. See also and for GIMP use the "Printer Setup"
button in the printing dialog.
