I cropped them a little bit (I find the shadowy background effect to be annoying) and ran them through pngquant (a data compression program that reduces most .png image file sizes by ~65% - 70%, by utilizing a 256-color palette (8 bits) in lieu of 24-bit color). Image quality is almost perfect ... fancy color-choosing algorithms are used to create a customized palette for each image processed by pngquant. Pretty slick.</p>

I guess I had heard of the 200 KB size limit before yesterday, but it still took me by surprise. Would people mind a whole lot if we bumped that up a bit, to maybe 512 KB? I'm not sure what kind of internet connections most people on this list have, but I bet most of us can receive digital data at a rate of 5 MiB/sec, or better.</p>
