There are quite a few KDE applications that are ubiquitous without being
obtrusive.

Most applications (kopete, kgpg, kwallet, korganizer alarm) solve this by
providing a system tray icon which offers the most important functions.

They all have in common that on startup the systemtray icon is restored and
the application windows are only restored when they were visible before
logout. That's how I would like to behave noatun as well.

Instead of making the SystemTray plugin an Interface one could also require
all interfaces to remember their visibility state on shutdown and restore it
on startup.

That would even be better and fit into the concept of making the systemtray
part of the library which is a great idea if plugins can add their own
actions.

Cheers,
