If artsd offers 44.1k anyhow, what is the -r option of artsd good for?
The results are equivalently bad for "artsd -r 44100" and "artsd -r 48000".

Native alsa audio applications (alsaplayer, "ogg123 -d alsa09") work fine

My alsaconf:

        type asym
