what reported here involves a digikam 8.0 installation via dmg file on a
macbook air 2019 with mac Os 10.15.7 

To quit light-board or the editor while in full-screen mode leads to immediate
freezing. DigiKam can be still shut down by command-Q, but nothing else is
possible. No freezing takes place by quitting light board or the editor in
normal screen mode.
