gin fo-4.2.4-4.fc11.i586.rpm
So I installed it, and re-started kwifimanger and again clicked on Scan
for Networks
and after it crashed, I got a banner saying the that it was not able to
get a valid backtrace:
Unable to create a valid backtrace.
This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents
creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously
corrupted in the crash.

<pre wrap="">I don't recall having to do anything specific to get the debug thingy
working,
though I could be wrong. One thing that does puzzle me a bit - you
refer to
kwifimanager - I thought the package was knetworkmanager. Are we
definitely
talking about the same thing?
Other than that, I can only suggest that you install wicd. On this laptop
wifi was dodgy - I kept losing the connection. Since I installed wicd
all has
been well. I've seen a lot of other reports of it solving problems, too.

<pre wrap="">OK - so both of us mis-read each other's emails.

I've just checked yumex and I can't find either kwifimanager or knetworkmanager.
ISTR that the last 'k' network manager I used was a KDE3 one. It worked, sort
of, in KDE4.

<pre wrap="">I thought that kdenetwork package had something to do with kwifimanager.
now that it is clear it does not, I have uninstalled it.
As far as wicd, I have no prior exposure to it.
Are you running Fedora 11 too?

<pre wrap=""><!---->On my F11 netbook I use the network management widget. It seems absolutely
fine now - the frequent line-drops of the past have almost totally disappeared.
It's my other laptop with Mandriva that has wicd. It comes highly
recommended, but I'd seriously suggest that you try getting the widget working
in Fedora.
