<p>In case anyone is interested, I found two statements in my /etc/X11/Xresources</p>
<p>file that appear to be the culprit:</p>

<p>I added those lines some time ago on recommendation from Wolfram support because of a "delete-next-character" warning message problem issued by the Mathematica front end. See</p>

<p>I don't know what those statements do, but I'll leave it for Wolfram to resolve. If anyone has any comment on this, what those statements do, <span style="font-style:italic">et cetera</span>, I welcome it.</p>
