Moving mail directories is usually best done with tar.

Something like (check paths before doing it, maybe backup .kde as well)
#> cd ~/.kdetest
#> tar cvf ~/mails.tar share/apps/kmail/mail share/config/kmailrc
#> cd ~/.kde
#> tar xvf ~/mails.tar
