[kde-linux] XMMS, other apps, and the kde system tray

There are numerous ways to do what you want depending on if you want control 
over which virtual desk the app appears on and its frame and other options.
Check;
ksystraycmd --help-all    and
kstart --help-all    for some ideas.

But the simplest way by far is to simply right-click on your K-menu button and 
choose menu editor. Then select any app in your menu tree hierarchy on the 
left and on the right pane you will see where you can set/change its icon/ 
command/ description/ comment etc as well as further options like; start in a 
terminal/ run as different user/ PLACE IN SYSTEM TRAY.   This is all you 
really want for firefox then just click its tray icon to disappear/appear it. 
If you exit the app it will also leave the tray.
