<DIV class=RTE>I am pretty new to Linux & KDE so please forgive my ignorance. I am trying to set up a look up terminal and lock it down as a Kiosk. We are running SuSE 8.1 with KDE 3.0.3.</DIV>

<DIV class=RTE>I want to limit the desktop icons to a specific list, disable Right Click capabilities, have a non changeable Panel with minimal buttons, limit browser access to only an intranet page ( not allow access to the file system from a browser window) and a bunch of other things that have not been identified yet.</DIV>

<DIV class=RTE>I have tried to configure the kde3 configuration files but have not seen any changes to the KDE screen. I have also configured the desktop as I have wanted it & then gone into config files & tried to set the immutable lock [$i] on the files but have found that I can still change setting afterwards.</DIV>

<DIV class=RTE>I know the newest version of KDE has a graphical tool for Kiosk mode but is there any kind of Kiosk mode in 3.0.3 or did it not become available until 3.1?</DIV>

<DIV class=RTE>Since I am bound to running SuSE 8.1, can I EASILY update my KDE to at least 3.1 ? If I was to move to SuSE 8.2, I could then upgrade the KDE to 3.2.3 correct ??</DIV>
