Hi,
February was the month of my KDE south Indian tour. I went to 3 reputed
colleges to promote free software and to be more specific KDE :)
I spoke at 3 events about which I will be telling .
FOSSCONF - A open source event jointly organised by NRCFOSS and ILUGC at
Madras Institute of Technology . (Chennai)
I spoke about KDE4 and How to create plasmoids .
INFINITY2k8- Osmania University(Hyderabad) Dept of Computers annual tech
festival
I spoke about KDE4 and how it will revolutionise the Desktop &
educational apps in KDE4.
PENGUFEST- A Linux based sub-event in pragyan which is the technical
festival of National Institute of Technology Trichy .
I spoke about Linux Desktop showed students plasma and other hot
technologies.I also showed the educational apps such as parley, marble &
kalgebra . Students want to use parley for their GRE preparation :)
one question which was posed to me was " These educational apps exist
everywhere on the web " whats new ?
A student itself answered the question by telling the importance of free
software .. while I told about KHotNewStuff and how users can contribute
their lessons ,audio files and vocabularies --> the "Giving back "
thing . I also told that these all as a package are not available else
where.. maybe some one can come up with a better answer ;)
>>From Osmania University some students want to contribute back to KDE ..
I suggested they could start with localisation as their bandwidth was
low .

I referred to techbase article for getting started with plasma . Many
thanks to Anne Marie Mahouf (annma) and jeremy whiting( jpwhiting)
(#kde-edu) for helping me prepare these slides and guiding me .

The slides are available at http://pavithran.org/slides/infinity2k8-kde.odp and http://pavithran.org/slides/pragyan08-kde.odp
