And if you do not use source code for installing digiKam 4.12.0 but use
official tarball to install digiKam, I can tell you the workaround for this bug
that you can use till the next digiKam 4.13.0 is released(in which this minor
problem will be fixed officially). The workaround is to download images from
Picasa to a "non-empty" local folder :)
