I have the same problem. I tried it with Ubuntu 9.10 and Kubuntu 9.10 always
with all patches and updates. Kubuntu with KDE 4.3.85 DigiKam 1.0.0-1ubuntu1
and KIPI 0.9.0-1ubuntu1. I tried it with small and large picture, with jpg tif
and png files and only for one month. The result is always the same the process
take 45 – 70 minutes and the file is about 2.8-6.5 GB (really GB!). I just
managed it to open this file the picture is not available and the lines are dim
/ ugly.
