<p>As announced on <a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://kde.org/announcements/gear/24.08.2/">https://kde.org/announcements/gear/24.08.2/</a>, KDE
Gear version 24.08.2 was released today. And with that, a new
version of Lokalize.</p>
<p>There’s a great reason to update: Thanks to the excellent work of
Finley Watson, the diff view comparing the ‘previous’ and current
version of a source string can now properly handle changes in
message context strings (msgctxt). This makes it easier to
identify what has changed (or not changed) in the English string
and apply the corresponding change in the translation.<br>
</p>
<p>I’ve attached a screenshot showing the diff view for a string
where the only change is in the message context. In the previous
version of Lokalize, the diff view was very confusing. With this
update, the diff operation is performed separately on the msgctxt
and the msgid strings, with the two shown on separate lines,
making it much easier to see what has changed.<br>
