Today, Kevin, Danny and I have sat together to talk about how powermanagement
will look like in KDE4. We agreed on the following points:

- We want a unified powermanagement solution for KDE
- Solid should provide the data needed (mostly through the SolidControl
namespace) (mechanisms such as setting cpufreq settings would go into
SolidControl, policies should be done by the application)
- A dataengine should only be a thin layer on top of that to make it possible
  to write cool applets

Solid will not provide
- X's DPMS
- X's idle time

Application such as kpowersave act as "policy agent". The It exposes a subset
of the FDO spec
(http://people.freedesktop.org/~hughsient/temp/power-management-spec-0.1.html)

kpowersave will be submitted (as-is) to the OpenUsability people and implement
their changes for the next version.

A photo of the architecture is attached.
