Since all Mancala-like games have very similar gameplay (with the same structure of board, objective..), I think we could implement a generic game. then, the number of "hole" in the board, the "goal" of game can be changed a little to fit with each local variants. Therefore, the gameplay isn't very hard to implement. The more important part of the game is the interface (with local boards, sounds, background...), I think these things may take me a long period to study and to represent them correctly.

Thank you for your mail. I think it would be best to forward your request to
our mailing list at kde-games-devel@kde.org to let the complete kdegames team
discuss about your idea. I can do that for you if you're okay with that.

A Mancala game itself could be a nice addition to kdegames, esp. because its
origin in non-western cultures.

As for the proposal, I'm always concerned that a single game is enough for a
GSoC project. (I for one implemented nearly all of KDiamond in three weeks,
without prior knowledge of the KDE libraries.) However, Wikipedia coverage of
Mancala indicates that it is a collective term for a whole category of games.
Could you imagine to implement the game in a generic way (similar to KPat) to
allow for easy addition of local variants?
