I am testing with Ctrl-D for demo. So a further question is
whether Ctrl-D would be OK? It is "end-of-file" in Linux shells
and maybe it is a global shortcut in KDE. How can I find out
if it is?

Hi Ian.

If you want to find out what the global shortcuts are, try this sequence:

To get to the KDE Control Module for shortcuts, go to the KDE menu and select Settings -> Regional & Accessibility -> Keyboard Shortcuts. Once you're in the module, you'll see tabs for Global Shortcuts, Shortcut Sequences, and Application Shortcuts under the Shortcut Schemes tab.

As for a demo button, I would probably use "S" (As "Show me how"), rather than, as you say, using the D or even CTRL+D...

Hope this helps.
