"portupgrade -f kdebase kdelibs qt4-imageformats" did the trick and now<br>
KDE desktop settings work as expected.<br>
When I update the ports I pay attention to recommendations in<br>
/usr/ports/UPDATING and when libjpeg was updated I did "portupgrade -fr<br>
graphics/jpeg".<br>
