even if chosen and with kdm in english, I've just adapted (with his greatful help) a solution from Cyril Buquet for the same behavior in Kubuntu (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase-workspace/+bug/298592).

It's just a few commands more in the script /usr/locale/kde4/bin/kdm to get the "lang=" var from /etc/login.conf (in PCBSD but it should be also true for FreeBSD, I think?) and export it, finished!!!

A reboot, and it works =:)

Please, check it out here:

https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=164311

There are the code and a screenie of it working in a Xnest, please have a look (I mean the ones of you affected by it...), test it and give feedback, eventually even good =;)

The thread is "Opened: 2008-06-17 17:27" it will be great if it could be resolved and closed, as modifying manually the file kdmrc with root rights to include "Language=fr_FR.UTF-8" is a
party-stopper for every newcomer from other OS.
This should really be one of automagically solved stuff =;)

Greetings,
FSW
