One thing is that KDE programs in general moved away from highlighting K<br>
somewhere within the name by uppercasing it, because people never get this<br>
right when writing about it.<br>

Another thing is that it is extremely close to one of the competitor's name.<br>
<br>
Maybe there is some famous mathematician with K initials or a mathematic<br>
technique (similar to the product that it named "Derive")<br>

A short reminder about the moving to kdeedu:<br>
<br>
The process for inclusion in kdeedu is to first move the application to<br>
kdereview and at the same time to describe it to kde-core-devel mailing list<br>
and ask for inclusion in kdeedu. The basic requirements are that it's as much<br>
as possible based on kdelibs, it builds well, it has a complete doc and it is<br>
i18n ready. Having a usability study for it and ensuring you did some profiling<br>
are nice additions.<br>
The application will stay for 2 weeks in kdereview where it gets peer review<br>
(usually in the form of answers on the kde-core-devel mailing list)<br>
If no problems are discovered it can be moved to kdeedu and a bug component<br>
canbe created for it as well as webpages. You might also considere to blog<br>
about it and to aggregate your blog on Planet KDE to create a buzz!<br>

Additionally there is the option of going into KDE extragear, permanently or<br>
even just for a while.<br>
<br>
We at KDE PIM do the latter for Akonadi resources provided by new developers,<br>
e.g the Google Data resource.<br>
It has the advantage that the author can do more releases at the beginning,<br>
e.g. two or three between KDE releases, can decide on release dates (e.g.<br>
delay if a critical bug is found), etc.<br>
<br>
The application is still being translated by KDE's localization teams, it can<br>
be tagged to automatically be included in a source tarball at KDE releases,<br>
etc.<br>
<br>
Famous extregear apps are Amarok and K3b.<br>

I just tried to compile mathematik on windows and I found some problems<br>
- - If R is not available, currently the build fails because you use<br>
message(FATAL_ERROR) in your FindR.cmake. I think I can try to fix this<br>
myself, if you don't mind (so that in the end<br>
macro_optional_find_package works).<br>
- - In both Maxima and Sage backends you use kptyprocess to start the<br>
runtime executables. As there are no ptys on windows, I would like to<br>
know if you really need to use it instead of kprocess directly? If I<br>
find the time, I will take a look into that as well, but I might need a<br>
bit longer for that.<br>

Sure, go ahead, I don't really know how these CMake checks work anyway. The<br>
code for the FindR.cmake was taken from the RKward project<br>

I was first using KProcess, but i remember having some really strange problems<br>
with it (like some commands not working, while others do), but maybe it can be<br>
changed so it uses kprocess on windows (as the're is very little code that<br>
needs to be changed, and it's all in (Sage|Maxima)Session ).<br>

I see, the name MathematiK was at first only chosen as a working title, as I<br>
totally suck at naming. The only other names I could come up with are:<br>
- Kauchy, after Augustin-Louis Cauchy<br>
- Cantor, after Georg Cantor<br>
- Kronecker, after Leopold Kronecker<br>
- or Konvergenz which is the german word for convergence<br>

I really hope somebody can give me a hint on how to call this thing.<br>

Looking at it, I just found out that Sage isn't available yet under<br>
windows, so maxima is the only one needed.<br>
I have a patch here that uses KProcess instead of KPtyProcess, but since<br>
it doesn't work correctly yet, I don't want to send it to you.<br>
If I can get it working here on windows, then we can test it under Linux<br>
too.<br>

Hi,<br>
A few days ago I sent an email to this mailing list and asked about<br>
using KGeography's data in my application.<br>
Well, the data are now being used in the new version of FlashQard<br>
(0.14.0)<br>
<br>
You might remember this software. A few months ago I asked about<br>
inclusion of FlashQard in kde-edu. But it was prefered to keep using<br>
Parley.<br>
<br>
Anyway, I thought it might be interesting for you to see how the data<br>
are being used.<br>
As it was mentioned in my last email, some of the maps are a bit<br>
modified. Capital cities are added to almost every map (of countries).<br>
