do you mean:

1) libknotification-1.so is fine, as long as the so version is bumped when the 
BC breaks?

or

2) please don't use libknotification-1.so, use libknotification.so.1

or

3) something else entirely

i have answers for both 1 and 2, but i'm not a mind reader and so lack the 
ability to guess at what you are actually trying to say with your rather brief 
email.
