Great :-)

My personal opinion is that an "Icons view" is not needed. Usually KDirOperator is used within areas that are quite small (e. g. the file-dialog or in Kate as sidebar), so the increased size for the "Icons view" adds no benefit in comparison with the "Simple view". Also when using the file dialog the chances are high that the user is only searching for a specific MIME type group, so showing the icon in a larger size also adds no benefit IMHO. What maybe supports this assumption is that we did get no feature request for the file dialog for a "Icons view" as far as I know.

If Dolphin we don't differ between a "Simple view" and a "Icons view" at all. The "Icons View" can be configured to a "Simple view" if needed and the feedback so far was quite good.

So I think it would be great to add the preview feature for the "Simple View" and the "Details view". This gives us also the chance to get a feeling about the needed decoration size for previews and how well it works inside a small area of the file-dialog.

Thanks in advance!
Peter
