Not that easy. there is an issue with function statics that are inline. At 
SUSE we've tried to patch this into our KDE packages, but had to revert that 
due to this (afaik yet unfixed) bug. 

In general, your suggestion is good, but it is entirely orthogonal to the 
issue David pointed out.
